SAFFORD — The Friends of the Library are taking a look at living history this month.

On Thursday, Feb. 24, the Friends of the Library will present Paul Schulz, who will speak on his father’s efforts in World War II, including the liberation of France and the protection of the Chartres Cathedral.

“In the summer of 2018, he was nominated to be a recipient of the (French) Legion of Honor medal,” Schulz said.

Schulz, his wife and his brothers then took his parents — now in their 90s — to France in 2019 for his father to receive the medal. Thursday’s presentation is about that 2019 trip and his father’s recollections.

The free presentation will take place in the library’s program room, starting at 6 p.m.
