Freeport gets rail safety award

PHOENIX — For the second year in a row, Freeport-McMoRan has received a railroad safety award.

Union Pacific presented its 2024 Pinnacle Award to 147 companies with zero non-accident releases of regulated hazardous materials shipments and who implement release prevention protocols.

Freeport moved more than 12,000 tank car shipments through its seven locations connected through its rail network.

In a posting on X (formerly Twitter), Freeport officials said, “This award is another example of how committed the Freeport team is to keeping each other and our communities safe.”
