Fort Thomas High School Student posts death threat on social media

Over the weekend, a Fort Thomas High School student posted an audio clip of his friend asking if he should bring his 9mm gun to school and end everyone. The friend making the threat then says, “But not yours, you’re a true soul.” After posting the clip on Instagram, the boy wrote that his friend scares him.

Monday morning the boy apparently shared the recording with the school principal, who called authorities. The Graham County Sheriff’s department asked the principal to place the school in lock down while they responded. The principal said that he had both students in the office area.

When questioned, both boys claimed it was a joke, and that they often talked about random things. The boy who allegedly made the threat told authorities that he did not have access to any weapons.

The case has been referred to the County Attorneys Office and Graham County Juvenile probation. Despite the boys claiming it was said in jest, one, or both of them are potentially facing charges including, Threats of Terrorism, Threatening/Intimidating, Use of An Electronic Device to Terrify, Threaten and Intimidate and Interference/Disruption with the Peaceful Conduct of an Educational Facility.
