GILA VALLEY — The brackets for the 1A Girls Basketball Tournament were released over the weekend. The first round this year is being considered a play-in round and won’t be counted as the state playoffs just yet. The winners of the play-in round will meet on February 12th at the higher seed for the official first round of the playoffs.
The Fort Thomas Lady Apaches secured the #1 overall seed with a 27-3 record. They will host #16 Lincoln Prep on February 9th at 4:30pm. Lincoln Prep finished the season with an 11-10 record and finished 3rd in the 1A East.
The Duncan Lady Wildkats will be on the road as the #15 seed. They take on #2 Rock Point on February 9th at 7pm.
The Duncan boys team finished the season 14th but were bumped from the playoffs after two lower seeded teams won their conference.
