Flu in Graham County up 84 percent this year, down 44 percent in Cochise

PHOENIX — As influenza season comes to a close, Graham County suffered almost double the number of cases as its five-year average.

According to data released Wednesday by the Arizona Department of Health Services, there were four cases of flu in Graham County the week of April 12, two in Greenlee County and 10 in Cochise County.

Graham County has experienced 760 cases of influenza so far this season, an 84 percent increase over the five-year average of 413 cases.

In Greenlee County, there have been 248 cases of flu so far this flu season, up 15 percent from the five-year average of 216 cases.

Cochise County reports a total of 415 cases. That’s 44 percent below the five-year average of 738 cases at this time of the flu season.

Statewide, there have been 39,487 cases of flu so far this season, with 725 new cases the week of April 12.
