FLOYD EDWARD DAVIS

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that passing of our beloved husband, father and papa, Floyd Edward Davis, on June 7, 2016.  Floyd “Ed” was born November 23, 1951, in Glendale, Arizona to Alvin and Margaret Davis.  He was the middle child of three children, an older brother and a younger sister.  Ed spent his younger years in Kansas and Missouri and then later moved back to Arizona where he attended high school.

Ed was taught to work hard as he grew up having many jobs before the age of 18 and he was old enough to join the military.  He joined the United States Army in 1970, serving stateside in Alaska.  He regretted not being able to serve his country in Vietnam, but the Army had different plans for him. Ed met the love of his life, Eliza Rogers, in 1973.  She became his wife on May 25, 1974.  Ed served in Phoenix and in 1979 he moved with his family to Thatcher.  He was assigned as Staff Sergeant at the Arizona National Guard in Safford.  Ed also had many civilian jobs during his 22 years of service in the Army.  He was medically discharged in July of 1992.

Eliza always wanted to have a dozen children, Ed only wanted five.  So they compromised and had nine beautiful children.

Ed is survived by:  his wife, Eliza; nine children, Tracy Whitmire (Tommy), Jeffrey Davis (Christi), Thomas Davis (Julie), Ryan Davis (Renee), Andrew Davis (Regiane), Douglas Davis (Leah), Allison Berryhill (Holt), Darren Davis (Rachelle), Kevin Davis (Amy); and twenty-five grandchildren.  Ed was preceded in death by:  his parents, Alvin and Margaret Davis; a brother, Chuck Davis; and a grandson, Ethan Davis.

Funeral services for Ed will be conducted Tuesday evening, June 14, 2016, at 5:00 p.m., at the Thatcher L.D.S. Stake Center by Bishop Tom Palmer of the Thatcher Seventh Ward. Concluding services with military honors conferred by the Gila Valley Veterans Honor Guard will follow in the Central Cemetery.
