SAFFORD — The final count of votes from Tuesday’s Primary Election are in, and there will be a run-off in November for the final Safford City Council seat.
After processing the provisional and late early ballots, Alma Flores ended up 30 votes shy of winning the seat outright.
She will face Luke Chavez in the run-off election during the November General Election. Chavez expanded his lead from 16 votes to 19 over the next closest candidate, Corina Pino-Reyes.
Results of all the other local races remain the same. (I) is incumbent.
Safford
Richard Ortega (I) was elected mayor, and Brad Hemphill (I) and Dusti Brantner (I) won seats on the Safford City Council.
Thatcher
Mark Vining (I), Shaffen Woods, Randy Bryce (I) and Bryce Carter won seats on Thatcher Town Council.
Pima
Lucas Hoopes (I), Cade Bryce and Georgia Luster won seats on the Pima Town Council.
Overall voter turnout in Graham County for the Primary was 35.51 percent. A significantly higher number of Republican ballots were cast compared to Democratic — 5,549 to 1,353 — however, those not registered with any party may select the party ballot of his or her choosing, and there were no contested races on the Democratic ballot.
