Awards presented for Fourth of July winners

SAFFORD — The best entries in the Safford Lions Club Fourth of July Parade gathered on the lawn of the Safford City Annex for a special presentation Wednesday.

Plaques were presented by Mick Ruiz, Administrative Events liaison for the city for the judges’ choices in the parade.

Most Creative award went to the Safford Arizona Masonic Family

For dressing as America’s founders, the Safford Arizona Masonic Family was awarded most creative in the Safford Lions Club Fourth of July Parade.

Best Use of Theme was awarded to the Gila Valley Freedom Band

Mt. Graham Little League All-Stars were awarded Best Youth Entry, and Mike Bodine for Sheriff was awarded Most Patriotic.

A special award was also presented to Amelia Sainz, who celebrated her 100th birthday by participating in the parade.

Mt. Graham Little League also used the gathering as a chance to hand out end-of-season performance awards to the players and draw the raffle winners.
