February cases well below previous months

SAFFORD — The last four days account for nearly 16 percent of all new cases of coronavirus in the Gila Valley in February, but the month remains well below previous months at the same time.

Graham County Health Department reported 23 new cases from Friday to Monday, bringing February’s total thus far to 145. That total is 90 percent below January through the 22nd and 78 percent below December at the same time.

The Safford area continues to see most of the new cases, with 63 percent of February’s cases in the 85546 Zip Code, while 20 percent are in 85543 (Pima to Bylas) and 17 percent in 85552 (Thatcher).

The total number of cases in Graham County since the start of the pandemic is at 5,262, with 71 deaths.

Greenlee County

Greenlee County Health Department reported five new cases from Friday to Sunday, bringing February’s total thus far to 31.

Since the start of the pandemic, Greenlee County has experienced 557 cases and nine deaths.
