Liberty Salazar found in Texas

SAFFORD — The special needs woman who has been missing for 44 days has been found.

On the Facebook page Looking for Liberty Salazar, and the personal page for Scarlett Donaldson, Salazar’s mother, were postings that said, “Liberty has been located, thank you everyone for your prayers and support!”

The woman’s condition was not disclosed.

Gila Valley Central’s requests for comment from the family was not immediately returned.

In an e-mail to Gila Valley Central, the Graham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Salazar, “has been located in Texas and efforts are being made to reunite the family.”

The Sheriff’s Office also said a full statement would be released Wednesday morning.

Salazar, 21, is diagnosed as autistic with epilepsy. She went missing from near her home on Jan. 23.

During a March 4 vigil, it was disclosed that Salazar has indigenous heritage, and a Bureau of Indian Affairs investigative unit was coming to Graham County to assist in the search.
