Esther Jackson, 54, of Clifton, AZ, passed away on January 7, 2017 in Tucson, AZ. She was born on November 26, 1962 in Morenci, AZ to Julio and Esther Tavison.
Esther, also known as Cookie or Baby Esther, grew up on Shannon Hill, attended Clifton schools, and graduated from Alhambra High School in Phoenix, AZ. She served proudly in the United States Navy where she met her late-husband, David. They married and moved to New York and then Florida where she worked for a local newspaper. She received the Palm Beach Blood Bank Public Service Award in 1990, for outstanding services in the community.
She returned to Clifton with her children and continued her volunteer work with various community programs, schools and organizations, including the American Legion – Post 28 and the Ladies Auxiliary Club. She organized many community events, including parades, festivals and fundraisers. She attended the many school functions and sporting events of her children, nieces, nephews and their children. Most noted is her hard work organizing The Reunion of Drivers for the Clifton Hill Climb in 2014, which she loved as a kid. She then revived the race itself in 2015, bringing a lost tradition back home.
Esther taught and showed those around her that nothing was ever too little to give, loving fiercely was never too much and good sarcasm and a smile should never go to waste. She shared her love, laugher, and joy with us all.
Esther is survived by her partner, Russ Packey; her children, Sarah Trout (her SarahMarie), Paul Jackson (her PaulGabriel), Aubrey Jackson (her Aubby-Love) with husband, Leon Roblee, Madelinne Dominguez (her Daddos), Julie Dominguez (her Leeloo), and Charlie Tucker (her Lubby); her grandchildren, Caitlyn, Maya, Adriana, Sophia, and Noah; her father, Julio Tavison; her siblings, Philip Tavison, Reynaldo Tavison, Celia Rains, and Patricia Perez and 11 nieces and nephews.
