PIMA — With gathering restrictions being lifted and more people eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19, the Gila Valley can look forward to traditional Easter events.

The Town of Thatcher is not putting on an event; however, the VFW in Thatcher will conduct an Easter Fun Day on Saturday, April 3, from noon to 3 p.m.

Easter Fun Day will include an egg hunt, Easter baskets for children, as well as games for children and adults, including a cup cake walk, musical chairs, a barrel train and bounce houses for the kids.

Food will also be available for sale and the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos.

The Town of Pima announced it would hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 10, at the town’s ballfields at the Vard Line Memorial Arena.

The event will begin with a community breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m., followed by the egg hunt starting at 9 a.m.

Last year more than 8,000 eggs were spread across the fields for children to gather and more are expected this year.

Graham County Parks and Recreation confirmed that Eastern Arizona Courier will not be putting on its annual Easter Egg Hunt at the fairgrounds this year. The event had taken place for 30 straight years until its cancellation in 2020 due to the pandemic.

City of Safford staff said there are no plans for an Easter event in 2021.
