THATCHER — Before the start of Safford Spring Festival occurring on Safford’s Main Street on April 24, people can work up an thirst by participating in a good cause — a 5k and Fun Run to raise funds in the battle against childhood cancer.

The 2021 Go Gold Run will take place at Eastern Arizona College Saturday, April 24. The one-mile fun run will start at 8 a.m., with the 5k starting at 8:30 a.m. The starting line for both is the Monster Exchange on the EAC Thatcher Campus.

Cost is $15 per person for the fun run and $20 per person for the 5k, and proceeds are being raised in honor of Blayze Brown, a local 12-year-old who was diagnosed with a rare form of Epilepsy when he was 5 years old. His seizures range from absence seizures (formerly known as petit mal seizures) all the way up to tonic-clonic seizures (formerly known as grand mal seizures) and atonic seizures (drop attacks).

Pre-registration is at https://runsignup.com/race/AZ/Thatcher/GGACC.

Full-time EAC students may participate for free, and must pre-register with current, valid ID at the Student Life Office at the Activities Center.
