Sept. 24 event builds on last year’s turnout of 800-plus students and 50-plus organizations
THATCHER, Ariz. — Eastern Arizona College Career Services invites local and statewide employers to connect with students at its Workforce Talent Connection from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Eastern Arizona College Activities Center, 1020 N. College Ave. in Thatcher.
Last year’s event connected more than 800 high school and EAC students with 50-plus businesses and organizations. Participating employers introduced students to their industries, demonstrated workplace skills and built relationships with potential future employees.
“The response to our last Workforce Talent Connection was tremendous,” said Alison Villalobos, director of EAC Career Services. “Eastern Arizona College is a workforce engine for our region, and this event gives employers an opportunity to meet their future workforce while giving students and community members a hands-on look at the careers available right here in our area.”
The Workforce Talent Connection goes beyond a traditional career fair. Through indoor and outdoor exhibits and hands-on experiences, employers can introduce students to careers they may not know exist and help them understand the education, credentials and skills needed to pursue them.
Students from Safford, Thatcher, Pima, Fort Thomas, Morenci, Duncan and surrounding communitiesare expected to participate. EAC students and community members are also invited to attend.
Vendor registration open through Sept. 14
Businesses, schools and other organizations can reserve a 10-by-10-foot indoor or outdoor booth for $35. A limited number of indoor spaces with electricity are available. Registration includes a 6-foot table, one chair and breakfast and lunch for one representative. Additional registrations are $15 each.
Vendor registration closes Sept. 14. Organizations can register through EAC’s event page. For questions, sponsorship opportunities or additional booth space, contact Alison Villalobos, EAC Career Services director, at 928-428-8609 or alison.villalobos@eac.edu.
