TUCSON — Motorists should plan for delays during trips between the Gila Valley and the Tucson and Phoenix areas next week.
The right lanes of Interstate 10, between mileposts 292-293 at Empirita Road, will be closed both east- and westbound from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, starting Monday, Aug. 31, and ending Friday, Sept. 4.
The closure shifts to the left lanes in both directions from Monday, Sept. 7 through Friday, Sept. 11.
U.S. Highway 60 will be closed in both directions between mileposts 227-243 Tuesday, Sept. 1, and Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
The closure is for the Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon bridges replacement project.
Drivers will be detoured to Winkelman via State Routes 77 and 177. The roughly 75-mile detour is estimated to add about an hour to trips between the Gila Valley and the Phoenix metro area.
