CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — The Eastern Arizona College (EAC) Lady Monsters concluded their 2024 volleyball season at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, finishing with an impressive 23-12 record after a challenging pair of matches against top-tier competition.
In the opening round, EAC faced No. 2 Miami Dade College, pushing the powerhouse program to four sets before falling 3-1. Middle blocker Elisa Saunders and outside hitter Brianna O’Donnal led the offensive effort with 11 kills apiece, while libero Kadence Moore anchored the defense with 18 digs. Despite their grit and 26 team blocks, the Lady Monsters couldn’t overcome Miami Dade’s consistent attack.
EAC moved to the consolation round, where they squared off against No. 7 Odessa College. The Lady Monsters showed flashes of brilliance, with Melanie Merrill leading the way with 8 kills and 5 service aces, and Addison Hinckley providing a spark off the bench. However, Odessa’s balanced attack and strong defensive presence handed EAC a straight-set loss.
