The EAC Campus Police in conjunction with EAC EMS will conduct an emergency drill in and around the Welding Lab located in the William J. Bone Industrial Technology Education Center (ITB) on South Campus today, Thursday, Nov. 16, from 11:00 a.m. to approximately 1:00 p.m.

This drill will simulate an explosion in the welding lab, and people in the vicinity may hear alarms and sirens, and college staff should receive an Omnilert® message from the Campus Police through email and/or cell phone. The buildings in this area will most likely have police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances in the parking lots.

Several EMS agencies and fire departments in the County are expected to participate in the drill. The drill will include about forty volunteer patients, and they will load the patients into ambulances and then drive them to an unloading zone.  The fire department will also be blowing in simulated smoke so their personnel can train in their SCBA’s (self-contained breathing apparatus) gear.

The emergency staff will concentrate their efforts at the following locations:

  • Welding lab and ITB
  • Grassy area east of the ITB
  • Parking lot on the north side of the ITB and Fine Arts Auditorium
  • Possible use of the parking lot west of the ITB
  • Possible use of the North Campus west parking lot

If you have business in that area during that time, please avoid the areas being used by emergency personnel if possible.
