EAC offering EMT summer class
THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College will be offering a Basic Emergency Medical Technician class (EMT103, section# 7100) that will take place through both summer 2016 sessions, meeting Thursday – Saturday, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. This nine-credit course will begin May 23 and end July 15.
Students need to submit documentation of the prerequisites with the completed “Proof of Prerequisites” form to the Records and Registration Office prior to registration. This form is available:
Student learning will focus on human anatomy and physiology, disease process, initial assessment and patient stabilization, proper use of equipment such as automatic external defibrillators, blood glucose monitors, MAST trousers, and airway adjuncts, as well as legal issues, scope of practice, extrication, documentation, communication, and ambulance protocols.
There will be a total of 16 scheduled clinical hours in the emergency department to provide direct hands-on experience with patients and an additional 16 hours of vehicular experience. This course is designed to meet all state and national requirements to prepare for EMT-Basic certification via the National Registry Exam.
