Eastern Arizona College today was presented with a $5,000 grant from OneAZ Credit Union to help with EAC’s Monster Exchange. EAC president, Todd Haynie accepted the grant for the college. The Monster Exchange is a vital resource for students in need of food, clothing and supplies.

In his remarks, Haynie recognized the contributions many businesses and individuals in the community have made to support the pantry, and said that OneAz Credit Union’s grant last year provided some much needed cabinets to house the supplies for the exchange.

State representatives Gail Griffin and Lupe Diaz were on hand for the Grant Ceremony. Representative Griffin said that she feels like Graham County is her second home and thanked the college for making her feel so welcome. Representative Diaz commended the efforts of the exchange to meet the needs of the students. “What I like about the food pantry,” Diaz said, “is that it comes right down to the personal needs of the students, and that’s really, really important. I think that shows the heart of the campus, the heart of the administration. It shows that there’s a love for, not only education, but also for those who are needing this service.”

The grant was presented by Vanessa Gonzalez from Arizona State Credit Union.

Anyone interested in donating to the Monster Exchange can drop off donations at 3673 W Church Street in Thatcher. The exchange is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 1:00 PM
