THATCHER, Ariz.–– Eastern Arizona College’s Fine Arts Division announces auditions for the spring musical Curtains, January 23-25, 2024, in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

It’s the brassy, bright, and promising year of 1959. Boston’s Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage the entire cast & crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan! Packed with glorious tunes and a witty, charming script filled with delightful characters, CURTAINS is a hilarious journey for both performers and the audience. The Broadway production garnered 8 nominations at the 2007 Tony Awards® including Best Musical.

Professor Chase Moore encourages all to come and participate. He said, “It’s a wonderful ‘whodunit’ musical that our community is sure to enjoy! If you love musicals, mysteries, and the 1950’s, then this is a show you want to be a part of!”

Monologue and song auditions will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23. Continued monologue/song auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, followed by dance auditions at 8 p.m. the same night. Callbacks are scheduled for Thursday, January 25, at 7 p.m.

Those interested in auditioning are encouraged to prepare a musical theatre selection of 24-36 bars in the preferred key and a monologue. Memorization of both is highly encouraged. The performances of Curtains will be April 3-6, 2024 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
