THATCHER — Eastern Arizona College will be offering Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes in a new location at its Discovery Park campus beginning Aug. 22. Initial assessment testing and information are free and a limited number of scholarships are available to Graham County residents who qualify.

The classes are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning at 5 p.m. and new students can come (with their I.D.) on any of those days at 5 p.m. to take a free assessment test (takes about 1-2 hours).  The results of the test will determine the student’s approximate grade level and what they need to work on in order to successfully pass the actual GED test.

The classes will now take place inside this Discovery Park Campus building.

The adult education courses are predominantly used to prepare students to take the General Education Development (GED) test in order to receive their high school equivalency diploma. These classes are also suitable for those who have been out of school for a long while and wish to refresh their skills, particularly in writing and math, for better job placement.

“We have five outstanding instructors who care about each student’s success and can offer one-on-one instruction in the areas of math, science, social studies, reading, and writing,” said EAC’s Discovery Park Campus director, Paul Anger.

For more information contact the EAC Discovery Park Campus at (928) 428-6260 or email Jackie.madsen@eac.edu or Joshua.leavitt@eac.edu.

To skip the classes and schedule a time to take the GED test, contact EAC’s test administrator, Jerri Lukens, at (928) 428-8491.
