THATCHER — In the tradition of 18th-century dance styles, the EAC Dance Department is hosting a free Jane Austen Ball at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, in the EAC Main Dining Hall.
“This wonderful experience will include demonstrations of several dances of the era,” said EAC associate professor of dance, Gayla Curtis. “Of course, everyone who attends the ball is also invited to participate by dancing as well.”
Dancers will be accompanied by live music as they perform The Duke of Kent’s Waltz, Miss Moore’s Rant, Marlbrouk Cotillion, and other dances of the era, along with the special opening number, The Grand March. The event is free and open to the public. Audience members are invited and encouraged to dress in period apparel.
