SAFFORD — About 250 people took part in the free drive-through COVID-19 testing blitz at Canyonlands Healthcare in Safford on Saturday.

“Canyonlands has done this before (and) it was really nice to partner with Graham County. They offered a stack of support for us,” said Lance Johnson, practice manager for Canyonlands Safford. “So really, it went super smooth.”

Drivers pulled into the Canyonlands parking lot on 20th Avenue, completed some paperwork and had a medical professional perform on them a nasal swab without leaving the vehicle.

Johnson said that, based on other testing blitzes Canyonland has conducted in other parts of the state, he expects about 10 percent of the tests to come back as positive.

He said it will take a few days for participants to get their test results.
