Dolores Polanco Aguirre, age 93 entered into eternity on May 4, 2016 in Thatcher, AZ surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Safford, AZ and lived in the Gila Valley many years.
On July 26, 1947 she married the love of her life Pete N. Aguirre in Safford. During the course of her life she lived in various towns in Arizona including Coolidge, Casa Grande, Bisbee and Willcox where she brought up her children. She eventually returned to the Gila Valley in the early 1980’s. She loved flowers, both houseplants and out in the garden. She also loved her puzzles and visiting with her family. She always liked to joke with everyone and was also an avid bowler into her late 70’s. Her home was her castle and she was always cleaning and sprucing things up.
She is survived by her two Children: Barbara (Ron) Holland of Thatcher and Pete (Jeanette) Aguirre of Safford. Three grandchildren: Brian (Danielle) Holland of Alexandria, VA, Chris Holland of New Braunfels, TX, and Rod (Kim) Aguirre of Tucson, AZ. Step grandchildren: Joe Mike Ochoa Jr. of Thatcher, Amie (Jeremiah) Granatowski of Safford and Nichole Espinoza of Kentucky. Three great grandchildren: Logan and Arden Holland and Jessie Lynn Aguirre. Three step great grandchildren: Serenah, Jeremiah Jr, and Samariah Granatowski. Also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pete N. Aguirre, infant daughter Mary Alice, sister Trine Montez, and sister-in-law Dominga Aguirre.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at St Rose of Lima Church in Safford with the Rosary to follow at 10:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Safford Cemetery.
