SAFFORD — The Safford City-Graham County Library announced its annual Dia De Los Muertos celebration will take place Saturday, Nov. 6.

The event will begin with a Dia De Los Muertos story at 11 a.m., followed by a traditional dance performance at 11:30 a.m.

After the dance performance, library visitors can take part in crafts based on the holiday until 1 p.m.

Dia De Los Muertos — Day of the Dead in English — is a Mexican holiday typically celebrated Nov. 1 or Nov. 2, where the memory of the departed are celebrated with altars decorated with their favorite foods or beverages, or toys for children.

The living are also celebrated with the exchange of small trinkets, such as sugar skulls, and light-hearted mock epitaphs are read about each other.
