THATCHER — The Red Lamp commercial project is continuing to move forward.

That was the message delivered to the Thatcher Town Council on Monday by Town Manager Heath Brown.

“The five proposers that are interested, they all are real happy with the site layout we’re at right now,” Brown said.

Conceptual plans call for the 4.4 acres to be developed into a mixed-use feature of the town, with a number of two-story buildings that can house retail on the first floor and either residential housing or offices on the second.

The goal is to also have a number of indoor/outdoor features, such as cafes, as well as a number of art pieces and a pedestrian plaza.

“The next step is to nail down the price of the land and the legal descriptions of the land — size and shape — and how we’re going to share infrastructure costs and also maintenance fees,” Brown said.

Once those details are worked out, proposals will be brought before the council for action.
