SAFFORD — The Graham County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed Monday to a trio of requests from Sheriff P.J. Allred.

The first was authority to apply for a State Criminal Alien Assistance Program grant.

“This will give us a little bit of money in housing some of our alien criminals” Allred said.

The board also approved an agreement with Arizona Department of Homeland Security that will provide GCSO with $143,619 to be used to cover deputy overtime and mileage.

The final approval came in the form of an intergovernmental agreement with the Arizona Department of Corrections.

“If Department of Corrections has something bad happen out there — they need us in response, they need us to hold somebody for them —whatever we can do, and vice versa. If we have something happen in our county jail and we need that assistance, Department of Corrections will come and assist us,” Allred said.
