SAFFORD — The City of Safford announced it has installed a temporary detour on a portion of the multi-use trail.
The detour starts on the trail on 8th Avenue, just south of 26th Street, and will travel directly south along the western edge of Safford Cemetery, before reconnecting with the existing trail on Discovery Park Boulevard.
The detour is being put in place as construction is about to begin on the new Mayor Jason Kouts Park at the corner of 8th Avenue and Discovery Park Boulevard.
A groundbreaking for the park is scheduled for 11 a.m. on June 23.
