GRAHAM COUNTY — An Eden man is facing numerous drug charges following a two-vehicle crash.

The incident occurred Dec. 27 on Safford Bryce Road. Westly Colvin told Graham County Sheriff’s deputies he was traveling westbound when an eastbound vehicle came into his lane. Colvin said he was unable to avoid the vehicle, as his steering wheel locked.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle said it was Colvin who was in the wrong lane and caused the crash.

Evidence at the scene indicated the driver of the eastbound was telling the truth and, during the inventory of the two vehicles, deputies reported “a number of illicit narcotics, dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia” were discovered in Colvin’s vehicle.

Colvin denied being under the influence at the time of the crash. During later questioning, he reportedly denied selling any drugs, and said the drugs discovered were for his personal use.

During booking into Graham County Jail, a search reportedly turned up baggies of fentanyl, xanax and diazepam pills; and another bag of crushed methamphetamine in Colvin’s underwear. Colvin allegedly told deputies he bought the drugs “from someone out of town.”

Colvin is facing charges of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, two counts of possession or use of dangerous drugs, three counts of promoting prison contraband, and possession of drug paraphernalia; as well as failure to drive on the right side of the roadway, wrong way driving, and failure to control a vehicle and causing a collision.
