COVID quarantine reduced to five days

SAFFORD — Graham County Health Department announced Sunday changes to the isolation and quarantine procedures for COVID -19.

Under the new guidelines, persons who test positive can leave isolation after five days as long as the person has no symptoms or symptoms are resolving, and if the person does not have a fever without the aid of fever-reducing medications.

Those who have come in close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 are required to quarantine is they are: adults who are unvaccinated, have been vaccinated but have not received a booster, or have not had COVID-19 within the last 90 days.

Quarantine is not required for adults who have been vaccinated and have had a booster, children 5-17 who have been vaccinated, and those who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days.

Meanwhile, add another 144 new cases of coronavirus to Graham County’s total.

That’s according to data released Monday by the Health Department.

That brings the total number of new cases in January thus far to 340, 58.4 percent fewer cases than the same time last year. The total number of residents who have tested positive since the start of the pandemic is up to 9,276.

Graham County Health Department is providing free vaccines to anyone 5-years-old and older, and free boosters to anyone 18 and older. To schedule an appointment for the free vaccine or booster, go to Activities • Graham County, AZ • CivicEngage.

Arizona Department of Health Services reports that 56.4 percent of Graham County residents have been vaccinated for COVID-19.
