The Sky Islands of the Coronado National Forest in Southeastern Arizona are still under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions but the forest is still open for campers and hikers.

Forest officials expect large numbers of visitors to the Forest’s most popular campground and picnic areas over the 4th of July holiday and adjoining weekends. Although some rain has fallen in isolated areas, most areas are dry and can catch fire easily. Campfires and smoking are prohibited in camping areas and the Forest Service asks that campers use propane lanterns and stoves instead of charcoal or wood.

Fireworks are prohibited year-round on all National Forest lands.
