BYLAS — Firefighters continue to gain ground on the Goodwin fire on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, achieving 32-percent containment Tuesday.
That’s according to the daily update issued Wednesday by the Albuquerque Zone Incident Management Team.
The fire, about 12 miles southwest of Bylas and 12 miles northeast of Klondyke, remains at 1,010 acres and is holding within its footprint.
Focus will now turn to securing the perimeter to increase containment.
The fire started Aug. 6 from lightning.
The Bronco fire — also on the San Carlos Apache Reservation about 30 miles northeast of San Carlos — remains at 18,131 acres. However, containment has grown to 16 percent.
The Bronco fire started Aug. 3 from lightning.
The Airplane fire, northeast of Bryce Mountain in Graham County, that was discovered Monday, grew to 81 acres before extinguishment.
