Congressman Ciscomani Establishes Citizens Advisory Council

Diverse group of community leaders reaffirms the congressman’s commitment to be a representative for all in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District

TUCSON — Congressman Juan Ciscomani today announced the formation of a diverse group of community leaders who will serve as a sounding board as he represents Arizona’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Congressman Ciscomani’s 40-member Citizens Advisory Council is composed of men and women from across southeastern Arizona and includes Republicans, Democrats and Independents from both the private and public sectors.

“We set forward ambitious priorities for our district, and this citizens advisory council will provide me valuable insight on the issues that matter most,” said Congressman Ciscomani. “These community leaders will play an important role in ensuring that we hit the ground running and deliver results for the entire district. I appreciate all of the members’ eagerness to serve on this council and look forward to working closely with them.”

The council includes job creators, educators, non-profit leaders, ranchers, water experts, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, developers and elected officials from both rural and urban parts of the district. It consists of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents from across the district’s five counties — Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, and Pinal.

This council will help Congressman Ciscomani fulfill his promise to remain connected, active, and accessible in the entire district by listening to a diverse group of key stakeholders who are focused on achieving results.

The council’s guidance will play a key role as Congressman Ciscomani serves on the Appropriations Committee. Congressman Ciscomani was appointed this week to serve on the influential House Appropriations Committee, becoming the only first-term Republican to serve on this prominent committee. Congressman Ciscomani will be a valuable voice for the state of Arizona on all issues related to government funding. Congressman Ciscomani’s priorities include promoting fiscal responsibility, bringing transparency to federal spending, and preserving the American Dream for all.

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels, Pima County Supervisor Sharon Bronson and Dr. Eric Cornidez, will serve as co-chairs of Congressman Ciscomani’s citizens advisory council.

“Mark, Sharon, and Eric are consummate professionals and respected community leaders,” said Congressman Ciscomani. “They have a proven track record of working on behalf of our region in their respective areas. I am honored and grateful to have them as co-chairs of this advisory council.”

Each of the council’s three co-chairs expressed their eagerness to help Congressman Ciscomani stay on top of the district’s public policy issues.

“Juan has been a steadfast leader in our community for many years and understands our priorities well — and the formation of this advisory council is proof of that,” said Sheriff Dannels. “I have seen his leadership first hand and he has always advocated for law enforcement. Juan’s commitment to representing all parts of the district, both urban and rural, will ensure that everyone in Southeastern Arizona has the proper representation that they deserve.”

Pima County Supervisor Bronson agreed.

“Juan’s appointment of a politically diverse set of members to his advisory council demonstrates his strong commitment to work with everyone and his willingness to focus on delivering results for our district,” she said. “Throughout his career, Southern Arizona could always count on Juan to listen carefully to concerns and issues from all perspectives. I look forward to working closely with him as he works for the people of the district in the U.S. Congress.”

And Dr. Cornidez said, “When Juan says that he is from Southern Arizona and for Southern Arizona, he means it. I have known Juan personally and professionally for years. As a father and a professional who grew up in this community, I am honored to be a voice on this council and help our new Congressman serve the families in our community. Juan is the embodiment of the American Dream and I am excited to join him as he fights to secure the American Dream for generations to come.”

Congressman Ciscomani was sworn in early Saturday with other members of the 118th Congress.
