SAFFORD — The towns of Pima and Thatcher, City of Safford and Graham County are teaming for Community Pride Days.

During Community Pride Days, which will run Feb. 26-28, residents are entitled to one free load of residential trash at the landfill. No hazardous materials will be accepted.

Proof of residency is required and loads that are not covered and secured are subject to a $10 charge.

In addition to the free load as part of Community Pride Days, Safford residents are entitled to one free load of residential trash at the landfill each month. Proof of Safford utility service is required.

In addition, Town of Thatcher is making available to its residents two new roll-off bins residents can use to clean their properties.

“We have the program now that residents can request a truck or trailer, we deliver it to their home, they fill it up, and we dump it,” said Town Manager Heath Brown.

Brown said if the material in the bins is burnable (such as green waste), the town will handle the burning. If the items have to go to the landfill, the town will deliver it but the resident has to pay the dump fee.

City of Safford offers a similar program with a trailer that residents can use; however, there is no charge to take the items to the landfill for those who already pay for City of Safford trash service.
