THATCHER — “We saw a surge of people wanting to start their own businesses in 2020, more than we’ve ever seen any other year,” said Kevin Peck with the Small Business Development Center at Eastern Arizona College.

To help those would-be entrepreneurs, Peck and Danny Smith from the Safford Downtown Association will conduct the 10-week Co.Starters program starting next week.

“Our purpose with Co.Starters is to improve that base, expand that economic base (and) make it more diverse. Find our entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs that want to get started, and help them be successful,” Smith said.

Co. Starters is a business development program that helps aspiring entrepreneurs put ideas into action, and turn a passion into a sustainable and thriving small business.

Participants will receive a binder with comprehensive materials guiding them through evaluating any business ideas and bringing it to market.

The program begin Tuesday, Jan. 19, and cost is free but pre-registration is required. Go to https://conta.cc/3n5XBmE.
