SAFFORD — Leaving the Gila Valley will prove a bit difficult this week.

A full closure of U.S. Highway 60 in both directions, between Superior and Miami, has been in effect since Sunday. The highway is projected to re-open at noon Friday, Sept. 17.

During the closure, eastbound traffic is being redirected at State Route 177 in Superior, while westbound traffic is redirected to state Route 77 in Miami.

The closure is complete the replacement of the Pinto Creek Bridge.

Another closure will go into effect this weekend, when both directions of Interstate 10 west of Willcox will be closed for another bridge replacement.

The closure goes into effect at 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, and the interstate will re-open to traffic at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19. All traffic will be directed off I-10 at Exit 336, and will re-enter I-10 using the on-ramps.
