The City of Safford will be instituting a program that will provide a 10% discount for Gas and Electric utility bills for the month of April to all customers, including commercial accounts. The City Council is also expected to discuss additional opportunities to assist residents during these trying times.
Utilizing the budget experience of Assistant City Manager John Cassella, the city has developed this recommendation by analyzing the ongoing capital expenditures and concluded that simply slowing down this program they can afford this reduction for a limited period. It was determined that implementation of the proposed discount program, for a limited period, would not have a significant impact on the City’s ability to properly maintain its capital program requirements. It is the City’s hope that this program will provide some relief to residents during these very unusual and difficult times.
The City of Safford is continuing to provide ongoing services, despite restrictions that the current crisis has created regarding interpersonal contacts.
