WASHINGTON D.C. — U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., announced he’s been able to secure federal funding for three big needs in his district.

“We’ve really prioritized bringing resources back to the district, and to make full use of the advantage that we have, by having me on the Appropriations Committee,” Ciscomani said. “We are the only freshman in the entire Congress to be appointed to the Appropriations Committee, and we’re also the only member of the Arizona delegation — Democrat or Republican — to be on the Appropriations Committee.”

Ciscomani was able to secure $2 million to help with development of a new station for the Pima Volunteer Fire Department.

“When you look at people volunteering to put out fires, and put their life on the line to save other people, that’s a big deal,” Ciscomani said. “We wanted to make sure that we could support them as well.”

Cost to construct a new station, on the site of the current station, is estimated at $2 million to $2.5 million. The Fire Department has been fund-raising since informing the Pima Town Council of its intention to develop a new station in 2022.

Ciscomani was also able to secure $274,000 for drainage design and mitigation in Duncan’s Hunter Estates, and $859,000 to help modernize Northern Cochise Community Hospital in Willcox.

He said there are other federal funding opportunities, and that rural communities should reach out to his office for help in navigating the process. Ciscomani represents Arizona’s 6th District, which includes Graham, Greenlee and Cochise counties.
