Checks presented to Light Parade winners

SAFFORD —  A few of the winners from the 27th annual Country Financial Holiday Light Parade stopped by the Safford City Annex Monday to collect their winnings.

On hand to get their checks for $300 each from Safford Downtown Association President Danny Smith and sponsor Vaughn Grant with Country Financial were:

  • Metcalf Farm — winner in the Family and Friends division
  • Airborne — winner in the Small Business division
  • Graham County Search and Rescue — winner in the Nonprofit division

“This was fantastic. It’s the largest participation and we had more floats this year,” Grant said.

There were more than 50 entries in the 2024 parade, with close to 70 vehicles and other floats participating.

The other winners — Way World Outreach in the Church division, Triumphant Learning Center in the School division, Graham County Electric Cooperative in the Large Business division and Graham County in the Government division — will get their winnings at a later date.

The principals of Airborne said they will likely use their winnings to help expand their business. Airborne was judged as having the best float in the Small Business division.
