SAFFORD — Safford residents average among the lowest in the state when it comes to monthly expenses.
That’s according to a recent study by DoxoInsights, which found Safford residents average paying $1,535 in regular monthly household bills, ranking 47th out of the 54 incorporated areas surveyed, and 25 percent lower than the U.S. average.
The survey shows mortgage payments in Safford average $947, compared to $1,321 nationally; while rent averages $791, compared to $1,191 nationally.
The survey also shows Safford residents paying an average of $286 for utilities, $112 for phone service and $130 for cable and internet.
Paradise Valley was most expensive — at $3,391 per month — followed by Scottsdale and Queen Creek. Lowest monthly average was Douglas at $1,412, followed by Kingman and Apache Junction.
Graham County ranked ninth in the state, with an average resident paying $1,595 in household bills, which is 22 percent lower than the national average for counties.
