CENTRAL — Another new park is coming to the Gila Valley.
Graham County is developing Central Park, next to the Central Post Office.
“All the concrete over there has been poured and the large gazebo has been erected,” said County Manager Dustin Welker.
The property once housed a school, but when the school closed the land was deeded to the county. Over the years, various Boy Scouts have added items to the lot as part of multiple Eagle Scout projects, including a basketball court, Ramada, grill and flagpole.
Now the county is adding sidewalks, parking, playground equipment, a small baseball/softball diamond, expanding the Ramada and converting half of the basketball court into pickleball courts. There will also be trees and green space.
