Catherine Jarvis Brimhall

Catherine Jarvis Brimhall, age 99, of Wellton, Arizona, passed away on February 20, 2017 in Pima, Arizona. She was born on January 27, 1918 to George and Frances Burgess Jarvis in St. Johns, Arizona.

Catherine grew up and attended school in St. Johns, Arizona, and later transferred to Gila Academy (now known as Eastern Arizona College) in Thatcher, Arizona, where she met Logan Lee Brimhall. They were married on May 28, 1937 in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. They were blessed with seven children.

Catherine and Logan moved to the Wellton-Mohawk Valley in 1952. As pioneers in the Wellton-Mohawk Valley they built a successful farm and were instrumental in contributing to the growth of the valley. Catherine was a home maker, raising seven children, served on the Wellton School Board for twelve years. She also worked for Petrolane Gas, citrus farms and various produce companies as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many callings including Relief Society President. In addition, she played piano at church and provided accompaniment to various musical groups. Later, Catherine and Logan served a mission in Obregon, Mexico at an agricultural college where Catherine coached the teachers with their English diction.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Logan Lee Brimhall, her parents George Jarvis and Frances Burgess Jarvis, her brothers George Eldred Jarvis and Thomas Burgess Jarvis, her sister Norma Jarvis Crosby, her son Allan Frederic Brimhall, her grandson John B. J. Benson, and her great -grandson Noah Andrew Olson.

She is survived by her children Arthur Randolph Brimhall (Patricia), Judith Hilarie, Irene Sullivan (Tom), Elaine Kohler (Michael), Doris Rubio (Richard), and Andrea Benson (Bruce) along with 25 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Wellton Ward building at 8824 South Avenue 36 E Wellton, Arizona at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday March 4, 2017,
