Case count in February drops by 10

SAFFORD — It was good news and bad news Thursday when it comes to coronavirus in the Gila Valley.

The good news is that the case count for February dropped by 10, as the Arizona Department of Health Services reconciled the cases with the proper addresses in other counties.

That reduces the total number of cases through the first four days of February to just 16, a case count that hasn’t been that low since April 2019.

The bad news was the second coronavirus-related death this month was announced Thursday, a San Carlos Apache Reservation resident between the ages of 55 and 64.

Since the start of the pandemic, Graham County has experienced 5,133 cases and 67 deaths.

Greenlee County

Following no new cases Tuesday, Greenlee County Health Department reported four new cases Wednesday evening.

That brings the total number of new cases in February thus far to seven.

Since the start of the pandemic, Greenlee County has seen 533 cases and six deaths.
