SAFFORD — Five wildfires are burning in Graham County.
The largest is the Buckhorn fire on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, in the northeast corner of the county, near the border of Apache County. The fire is believed to be started by a lightning strike on July 10. It’s currently at 1,006 acres and is 51-percent contained.
The Oak fire is northeast of Bryce Mountain and started Saturday, July 20. It’s at 295 acres and no containment has been reported.
The Warm Springs fire is on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, on the Gila County border, southeast of Rocky Junction. It also started Saturday, July 20 and is at 197 acres. No containment has been reported.
The other two fires are small in nature, both on the San Carlos Apache Reservation and both started Monday, July 22. The Ribben fire is in Peridot, while the Belt fire is southeast of Natches. Both fires are currently at a half-acre in size.
There are two additional wildfires on the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Gila County.
The Rock fire is northwest of the Warm Springs fire and is at 4,317 acres. The Allen Trap fire is northeast of Upshaw tank and is at 1,654 acres. No containment of either fire has been reported.
