Both sides claim to be the victim in fight at Firth Park

SAFFORD — A scuffle at Firth Park in Safford ended with a minor injury but no arrests.

On Oct. 25, Safford Police officers responded to the park following reports of a fight.

One of the men involved said he and others were sitting and talking, when another man up and punched for no reason. That prompted a third man to throw a punch, striking the head of the man the others claimed started the fight.

However, the man the others accused said he was the victim and first attacked because “of his Christian beliefs.”  Officers said that man had blood coming from his nose due to a cut.

Neither side wanted charges pressed and officers told the parties to stay away from each other.
