Blood donation at 10-year low

SAFFORD — The American Red Cross blood supplis at historically low levels, and it continues to decline.

If more donors don’t come out to give, hospitals may be forced to delay care to patients relying on blood transfusion.

To encourage donation, those who give in January will automatically be entered for a chance to win a getaway to Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles and will also be automatically entered to win a home theater package and a $500 e-gift card. Terms apply; visit RedCrossBlood.org/SuperBowl for more information.

The next blood donation opportunities in the Gila Valley are:

● Jan. 10 at VFW Post 10385, Thatcher, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

● Jan. 12 at Quality Inn and Suites, Safford, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To schedule an appointment to donate, go to Schedule Your Blood Donation With The Red Cross (redcrossblood.org).
