THATCHER — On its social media, Arizona Game Fish reported a black bear recently made its way into a residential neighborhood in Thatcher.

The bear appeared to be drawn to beehives a homeowner had in the yard. The hives have been moved.

Game and Fish reminded the public that bears eat insects and honey, so those items should not be easily accessible. Also garbage cans should be secured, bird feeders should be taken down and any tree fruit that has fallen to the ground should be picked up immediately.

Anyone who spots a bear or other predator in a residential area should report its location to Game and Fish at 623-236-7201.
