Beehive fire 62 percent contained

RIO RICO — Containment on a wildfire in nearby Santa Cruz County continues to grow; however, a second fire is starting to grow.

The Beehive fire is at 10,532 acres, according to the most recent update from the fire’s incident command, with containment at 62 percent.

The fire has forced the closure of Aravaca Lake and Aravaca Campground.

The fire started June 30 and cause remains under investigation.

The Beehive 2 fire also started June 30, and is now at 100 acres with 0-percent containment. The second fire has resulted in the request for more personnel and resources to stop the fire before it spreads.
