THATCHER — The first singer to try-out was the last person selected to perform at the 2025 Gila Idol finals.

During his morning show Friday on Kat Kountry 94.5 FM, Reed Richins announced that Sarah Bauman was chosen by the fans to take part in the Gila Idol finals Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m., at the David M. Player Center for the Arts.

Bauman was the first singer at the first preliminary, Jan. 30, at the Double R Bar and Grill. She sang “Almost There,” and was selected to be an alternate.

At each preliminary, judges picked an alternate and, for the past week, the public has had the opportunity to view video of each alternate’s performance and vote on the person they want in the finals.

“Alright, so here’s what the deal is: last night at midnight the voting closed, and there was one vote between first and second place,” Richins said.

Twenty singers will take the Player Center stage on March 27, in hopes of winning the Gila Idol trophy and $2,000. In addition, eight former Gila Idol winners will perform that night.

Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased by clicking here.
