PIMA — On Tuesday, the Town of Pima will officially have a new town manager after two months without a manager in place.
The first item on Tuesday’s Pima Town Council agenda is the swearing in of Town Manager Vernon Batty.
Batty was offered the job following a special meeting Sept. 16. He is a lifelong resident of the town and owner of Jon’s Heating and Cooling in Thatcher.
“During my tenure I’d like to see improvement in our infrastructure,” he told Gila Valley Central. “Our town is growing, has been growing and will continue to do so, I believe, and we need to get the infrastructure up to snuff to be able to keep up with it.”
The position came open when Sean Lewis submitted his resignation as town manager effective Aug. 19.
The council will also be asked to consider creating a new position for the town, that of a recreation specialist/athletic director. And Vice Mayor will bring forward discussion on possible updates for the town’s personnel manual.
The Town Council will meet at Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m., at Town Hall.
